Interdisciplinary Studies Program Food Science / Safety |
| |
The Interdisciplinary Studies Program in Food Science/Safety is offered at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The program is designed to provide students interested in the safety and quality of food from "farm to fork" with the background necessary for understanding the roles and responsibilities of various members (such as growers, producers, processors, retailers, and consumers) within the food system in ensuring that food is safe and healthful. The program is a cooperative effort of faculty in seven departments and three colleges within the University who share a common interest in food quality, safety and integrated production/processing. Students enrolling in this program will receive their degree from their home department. Completion of the requirements for the interdisciplinary program will be noted on their transcript. Program details are available from the offices of the Dean in the Colleges of Applied Human Sciences, Agricultural Sciences or Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, or from one of the collaborating Departments. |

Metabolomics Program: a research consortium in agriculture and metabolic diseases) |
| |
The consortium is focused on providing technical support and training for functional foods and metabolic disease research. The technology platform supporting this initiative is mass spectrometry-based. The focus of this consortium is to identify metabolites important to health promotion and to determine how phytochemical modulate metabolic profiles of importance. |

Program in Molecular Plant Biology (PMPB) |
| |
CSU’s PMPB is a recently formed interdepartmental program. The PMPB has over 25 faculty members from six departments (Biology, Computer Sciences, Bioagricultural Sciences and Pest Management, Horticulture, Soil and Crop Sciences, and Statistics) in two colleges (College of Agricultural Science and College of Natural Sciences). The PMPB offers research and training opportunities in all areas of molecular plant biology including genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular systematics, bioinformatics, computational biology, and molecular and whole plant physiology. |

Macromolecular Resources is the Core Laboratory of Colorado State University. |
| |
The primary mission of the core laboratory is to serve as an enabling resource for research and development programs within Colorado State University. Reflecting the mission of the State University to serve the people of the State of Colorado, the resources of the core laboratory are also made available to business, government and community organizations outside of the university.
- To keep CSU research programs at the highest level, the core strives to acquire the newest and most advanced instrumentation which is not readily available from other sources.
- The core builds capabilities, both instrumental and intellectual, that are beyond the normal resources of individual research programs and are most efficiently utilized in a sharing context.
- The core facilitates interactions between the CSU research community and commercial vendors of services and supplies.
All resources are offered on a fee for service basis with priority given to Colorado State University projects, and with a discount structure designed to favor the faculty and staff whose efforts have contributed to establishing the resource. The core’s major focus is on the technology of research in the biological sciences but instrumentation and staff are suitable for many other fields as well. If your needs do not fit the genomics, proteomics or metabolomics categories, check our additional resources page or give us a call. |
